NEWS FOR SEPT. 29, 2004

LIONXOR 2, SPX, OTHER CRAP

Hey folks, first off, Lionxor 2 is here! Yeah, yeah, I know, it’s about effin’ time. It’s still on a bimonthly schedule though, so to all you people complaining, BLOW IT OUT YOUR – I mean, thanks for buying.

So, go to comiXpress.com or click on the cover over thar to the left and get more badass ‘80s action and adventure than a M.A.S.K and SECTAURS crossover. Yuck. What? Oh, you like M.A.S.K.? Well YOU’RE A STUPID, FRIGGIN’ – I mean, thanks again for buying.

Oh, and if you’re still not convinced in the Lionxor movement, there’s a preview to Issue 2 here, and a preview of Issue 1 here if you haven’t checked that out yet. It and Crackurz Comics 1 continue to do extremely well at comiXpress, CRUSHING the competition – I mean, coexisting in a healthy small press environment where everyone succeeds. So give your support to the little guys. Especially me.

Oh, and don’t forget about SPX this weekend. Due to work, I’m not positive I’m making it yet, but Lionxor will be there at the PV comics and comiXpress booth. Stop by, say hi, flash your . . . money.

More news soon.

NEWS FOR JULY 28, 2004

CRACKURZ COMICS #1 AVAILABLE AND LIONXOR #2 COVER

Wow. Comixpress is rocking hardcore. If you’re an independent or small press creator you can’t beat it. Printing, distributing, and the way they do it is revolutionary. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Check them out and comixpress.com and pick up a copy of Lionxor while you’re there. Even if it’s just as a sample of their printing or how the system works.

Which brings me to my next order of business. We’ve made Crackurz Comics #1 available there. It reprints the critically acclaimed first Crackurz stories to ever see print. Nice companion piece for Lionxor if you don’t already have it. More of those to come.

And check out the cover to Issue 2 of Lionxor in the comiXpress column to the left. Book’s coming soon. Stanlee Houston rocks. Really. I’d have his children if it was biologically possible. Maybe I’ll just shake his hand. He and I (James Patrick) will both be in Akron this weekend. Come. Bring alcohol. Okay, alcohol isn’t permitted. Bring prostitutes. Yum.

NEWS FOR JULY, 2004

Lionxor is out and exclusive to comiXpress. And if you don’t know what comiXpress is you will soon since it’s pretty much going to change independent and small press printing and possibly distribution. But it’s easy, just go to the website and order a book and check out what’s going on there. Or go straight to their Lionxor page and get a copy!

As for Lionxor, well it’s been a long road and it’s finally here. This book has gotten extremely high marks from advanced looks, including Wizard Magazine, so don’t be left out. We’d like to thank PV Comics for sticking their label on it. Logan is a class act and a genius and I couldn’t ask to be associated with anyone better.

The people with Candida Press have been extremely busy. I, James Patrick, am set to be the regular writer on two regular series coming out. One title comes out the end of this year and the other sometime next. I’m not at liberty to discuss either yet, but I’m extremely excited about both. I'm am also currently doing writing for a television show that was just approved. No, it's not Star Trek or anything, it's a show that features independent films and I'm scripting the character that introduces them, as well as all the technical stuff. D.J. continues to work on Lionxor and his projects with the great folks at the already mentioned PV Comics. Check out his Yirmumah strips and Yirmumah stories. Stanlee Houston continues to wow the comic book world with his covers, he’ll probably be working for Dreamworks the next time I talk to him.

Okay, stay tuned, more crazy stuff coming.

NEWS FOR MAY 11, 2004

So, Lionxor is everywhere. Secret Stash in the month's Wizard, there's an ad in last week's CBG, interviews with me at The Pule and Movie Poopshoot, the online seven-page preview is getting a ton of hits and a ton of compliments. The idea now is to see how it translates into sales. Not because we're greedy bastards (well, we are, but that's not the main reason) but so we can continue to do this for as long as we want, under our terms and not fear the great, giant Diamond (who, of course, is distrubting Lionxor on Page 310, under Geekpunk, ITEM #MAY041270. Heh heh.)

So, hype aside, what else is going on? Well, artist D.J. is busy with PV Comics and they just released a Yirmumah mini which is effing hillarious. I'm serious. It's the funniest thing you'll read in a while. Order it at www.djcoffman.com. Cover artist Stanlee Houston (stanleehouston.com) is getting many offers for covers at certain large comic companies. And I'm working on new projects as we speak and doing all the Lionxor pimping. I guess that's enough to report now, stay tuned for more information about projects. Thanks for all the support.

James.

APRIL 23, 2004

MAY PREVIEWS is out and Lionxor is in it. Published by GEEKPUNK, Page 310, ITEM # MAY042710. Man, it's nice; feels like we started this book ten years ago -- and it's hard to believe it's still over two months until it comes out. So please, please, please, preorder it because preordering is the only way small press and indie books survive. And if you're not sure, check out this easy-to-read scrolling SEVEN-PAGE PREVIEW, which, in the few places has popped up, people have gone crazy for.

Also, we'd like to welcome new inker Todd Swain to the group. He's doing great work and we're all excited. His first issue is 3.

So, Lionxor's in Previews, Todd's in the group, Stanlee's turned in another amazing cover for Issue 2, we're working on Issue 3 and people are loving what they're reading, so check us out, won't you?

Here's the Previews blurb and check out the cover's in the left column for anyone who missed it.

The greatest '80s properties of all are in this book! Unfortunately, they've been catpured, and it's up to Lionxor and his band of losers to save them! A transforming robot, five mechanized tigers that join to form an unstoppable force, a manly prince from another planet and a hot manga girl all join Lionxor in his attempt to save the, uh, more important properties.

March 10, 2004

The Lionxor cover is here, and we’re all in effin’ love with it. My man Stanlee, Stanlee Houston, has outdone himself on this fine piece of art. And on another, to be quite honest, but that’s something we’re saving for later. For now, check out our cover in the left column. If you like it, tell us in the Lionxor forum at GeekPunk’s message boards, or visit Stanlee’s website. For more Lionxor info, scroll down this column or go to the Lionxor page here at the site or visit GeekPunk news page for the press release.

March 3, 2004

Things have been crazy here with the people involved with Crackurz -- uh, that would be just be D.J. and I. First off, Lionxor has been picked up by Geekpunk (Hero Happy Hour) to be published. And for those who don’t know, pretty much everyone, Lionxor is a crazy action/adventure/humor book that uses the flavor of 80's properties. It will be in May Previews, ship in July, and we’d like to give out a special thanks to Geekpunk and Dan Taylor for letting us run around in his playground. It’s written by me, James Patrick, and pencilled, inked, and lettered by D.J. Coffman. We have a fantastic artist on the cover, but that will be its own announcement. Go to Geekpunk.com to find out more, and go to the Lionxor page to for a little Lionxor history and to check out the four, full-page, full-color strips that started it all. Look for the Lionxor page here to be updated soon. There’s more big news coming, but we don’t want to give everything away at once. Let’s let this set in first.
